During May, I managed to play 16 games of 13 different titles, with 5 of them being new to me. The new games were:
== NEW GAMES ==
Clank!: A Deck-Building Adventure – 1 play – 8
First Published 2016
This was a really fun deck-builder masked as a dungeon crawl. The Clank mechanism with the dragon bag is a nice idea and it proved to be pretty tense trying to get out before the game ended.
Sola Fide: The Reformation – 1 play – 7
First Published 2016
This was very similar to Campaign Manager 2008, which is a game I quite enjoyed and this one was just as enjoyable.
13 Minutes: The Cuban Missile Crisis – 1 play – 7
First Published 2017
This is not quite as good as 13 Days, which really impressed me when I played it last year but it is fun for such a quick game a bit of tension in trying to avoid starting nuclear war.
Best Treehouse Ever – 1 play – 7
First Published 2015
Another simple drafting game where you’re trying to get the best connection of rooms for each scoring round, while the double/cancel cards add a nice end-of round effect to pull back a perceived leader. However, you mainly want to just grab the cool rooms that fit in with your own likes and to hell with the scoring.
Eminent Domain: Microcosm – 1 play – 6
First Published 2014
This looks to be a clever and quick microgame themed on colonising and invading planets like the original boardgame. However, I just found it a bit dull and unexciting.
== OTHER GAMES PLAYED THIS MONTH ==
Moved onto Book 6 of Hogwart’s Battle this month and successfully defeated Voldemort. I’m also quite enjoying Knizia’s Mmm! and started getting back into race games after a bit of a gap.
== STATE OF THE COLLECTION ==
I added 6 new games to the collection which were: 13 Minutes: The Cuban Missile Crisis, EXIT: The Game – The Pharaoh’s Tomb, Clank!: A Deck-Building Adventure, Welcome Back to the Dungeon, Sagrada and Meins! My total collection now stands at 599.
My list of unplayed games increased by one from 18 to 19 and my Game of the Month was Clank: A Deck-Building Adventure.
